Box Score 2 GRANTHAM, Pa. – The York College softball team had its six-game win streak snapped on Thursday afternoon after being swept by No. 25 Messiah College in nonconference doubleheader on the road.

How It Happened:
• The Falcons led off the second inning with a double to left field, followed by a triple to right
center to score the first run of the inning.
- The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the second frame when Amber Bingaman poked a two-run homer to dead center to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Spartans tallied just three hits and never had a runner reach third base as they left seven runners stranded.

Game One Notes: It was just the third time the Spartans have been shutout this season … York's three hits on the day is the lowest total this season … it was the third time the Spartans were held without an extra-base hit this season … it was the fifth game this season York did not commit a fielding error.

How It Happened:
• The Falcons scored first as they put runners across the plate in the opening frame. Becky
Notte reached on a fielding error and was tagged out at second base as she tried to extend the play, but two runners scored in the process.
- Messiah tacked on three more runs in the third as Erin Cressman tripled to right center to drive in all three runners.
- The Spartans got two back in the fourth when Courtney Gall singled down the right field line to drive in Carleigh Ruleman and Haley Hirn.
- Messiah put more runs on the board in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 8-2. The Falcons recorded RBI on a single, a double and another single.
- The Spartans showed signs of life in the top of the seventh after two outs had been recorded. Katie Maloney got things going with a double to left field, and then Zittle followed with a walk. Ashley Werner cleared the bases with a double to left center to cut the Falcon lead to 8-4. Next up was Marmo who doubled to right center to drive in Werner, but that would be the last run of the ball game for either team.

Game Two Notes: The Spartans had four doubles by different players, which is third time they have recorded four doubles in a game as a team and the second time four different players have recorded doubles in a game this season … after having no extra-base hits in game one, York tied its season-high with four in game two … the Spartans matched their season-high with three fielding errors.
What's Next: The Spartans return to action on Sunday as they continue their eight-game road trip with a nonconference doubleheader at Lycoming with game slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
