Box Score YORK, Pa. – The No. 8 York College women's lacrosse team suffered an 8-6 defeat in a closely contested contest with No. 7 Salisbury University in the first Capital Athletic Conference game of the season for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- York took the opening draw and quickly scored the first goal of the game as Katelyn Cattrano set up Brittany Noell for her seventh tally of the season.
- The Sea Gulls did not trail for long as they responded with two goals on consecutive possessions to take a 2-1 lead less than eight minutes into the game.
- The Spartans answered right back with a pair of goals of their own as they regained the lead, 3-2. Cattrano and Katherine Burk were responsible for the Spartan goals.
- The two sides traded goals as Allison Kolacy scored for York to go ahead 4-3, but the Sea Gulls scored twice within the final two minutes of the first half to take a 5-4 heading into the break.
- Salisbury scored its third straight goal of the game early in the second half to take a 6-4 lead, the largest lead of the game by either team.
- Burk scored on a free-position shot just over a minute later, but the Gulls responded a minute later with a goal of their own to regain a two-goal lead.
- Melissa Meehling cut the deficit to one goal (7-6) as she scored on a free-position shot with 17:18 left to play in the second half, but that would be the last Spartan tally for the remainder of the game.
- Kristen Murphy added an insurance goal with 5:01 left as Salisbury extended their lead to the final score of 8-6.
