Box Score ANNVILLE, PA –The eight ranked York College women's lacrosse team opened their 2016 season with a 15-6 non-conference win at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon in Annville, PA. The win was the 100th career coaching victory for head coach Jen Muston as she opened her ninth year at the helm of the Spartan squad. York is now 1-0 while the Flying Dutchmen are now 0-1.
How it happened:
• Sophomore Melissa Meehling opened the scoring off a pass from Katelyn Cattrano just 39 seconds into the game.
• After LVC tied the game at the 28:33 mark, the Spartans ripped off five straight goals. The five goals came from five different players with four coming on free position shots.
• LVC and York would alternate goals over the final 9:13 of the first half as York took a 9-4 lead to the break.
• The Dutchmen opened the scoring in the second half with a Tori Kuntz goal, cutting York's lead to 9-5.
• York ripped off six straight goals to push out to a 15-5 lead. Rachel Saks scored two of the goals on the run. Four of the goals came on free position shots.
