York's Jayme Verman (York, Pa. / Lancaster County Day) started the game off for the Spartans scoring the first goal in the first 22 seconds of the game. Then the Bobcats and Spartans were going goal for goal that tied up the score 2-2 with still 23:30 left to play in the first half. Spartans Lily Damalouji (Prince Frederick, Md. / Calvert) came back with two goals to take the lead. The half ended 6-2 with York leading as Rachel Saks (Baltimore, Md. / Catonsville) scored her first goal on the game with 39 seconds remaining in the stanza.
Saks scored again to open the second half scoring for York. The Bobcats hadn't given up though as they came back with a goal to get back in the groove. Verman and Saks didn't like the fight back from the Bobcats so they both added goals for the Spartans as the Spartan lead grew to 9-3. Frostburg's offense kept fighting back and got their last goal of the game with 12:33 left in the game, but York's deposited the final four goals of the game into the net with two coming off the stick of Damalouji
Damalouji led the Spartan offense as she ripped off four goals in the win. Saks netted a trio of goals while Verman totaled four points on two goals and two assists in the victory.
The Spartans outshot the Bobcats 30-12 in the win. The Spartans also lead the game with draw controls and ground balls. Karlie Dougherty (Baltimore, Md. / Mercy) had a fantastic game with a school record tying seven caused turnovers. Ironically, the record was held by Spartan alum and current Frostburg State head coach Megan Foy. Dougherty also had seven ground balls and three draw controls.
Frostburg had all of their goals unassisted as Molly Hart, Jessica Jones and Charlotte Hines scored all of the Bobcat tallies. Hart had two goals while Jones and Hines scored once each. Malory Brunett recorded a team-high four draws in the setback.
Charlotte Wright (Massapequa Park, N.Y. / Massapequa) earned the win in net as she had an outstanding game as usual, playing all 60 minutes of the game and getting three saves. Frostburg's Dylan Teitelbaum kept the Bobcats in the game as she recorded eight saves in her 60 minutes in the cage.
The next game for the Spartans is Saturday at Southern Virginia when they face the Knights in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. First draw is set for 4:00 pm.
