York College men's tennis freshman Sidney Weissert has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week presented by WellSpan Health for the week ending September 13.

Weissert powered the Spartans to a fall season-opening victory over Penn State Berks last Saturday as York defeated the Lions, 7-0. The rookie went 2-0 on the day as he teamed up with Holden Depew for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles followed by a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles.

Weissert and the Spartans return to the courts on Saturday at the Dutchmen Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College.
