York Names Jones Head Tennis Coach

YORK, Pa. - The York College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Hunter Jones as the head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs. Jones is the first full-time head coach in the history of Spartan tennis.

Jones possesses over a decade of tennis instruction and coaching experience at the youth, high school and adult levels, and owns a Level 1 Instructor certification from the Racquet Sports Professionals Association (RSPA). Most recently, he completed a one-year stint as the assistant girls varsity tennis coach at nearby Dallastown High School during which he helped the Wildcats capture two county doubles titles and a pair of county singles medals at the YAIAA Championships. Jones also served as a staff professional at Wisehaven Tennis Center located in York with a prior stint as a pro at Penn State Tennis Center in addition to a six-year tenure as a tennis instructor at the Country Club of York.

As a player, Jones competed for club teams at both Penn State University and West Virginia University. He still actively competes in USTA and ITT leagues throughout USTA Middle States and USTA Mid-Atlantic regions.

No stranger to York College, Jones transitioned into his head coaching role after two years serving as the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. He also held a similar position at Penn State for one year prior to his arrival at YCP.

Jones graduated cume laude from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in biorenewable systems. He also earned his master's in sport management from West Virginia.
