Spartan Athletic Department Celebrates 2026 Seniors and Award Recipients

YORK, PA – The York College athletic department celebrated its 2026 senior student-athletes and their careers with the annual year-end awards ceremony on Sunday evening inside Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

The event was centered around the celebration of Spartan senior student-athletes as they received their student-athlete stoles in addition to their Gold and Silver Spartan Awards. The evening culminated with announcement of the department's major award recipients: The Fighting Heart Award, The Stallman Award and The Klinedinst Award.

2026 Jack Jaquet Fighting Heart Award Recipient: Sydney Mentzer

The Jack Jaquet Fighting Heart Award is given to the senior student-athlete who has distinguished himself/herself by going above and beyond requirements or expectations, by displaying uncommon devotion, or by persevering through extraordinary circumstances. Because of this exemplary, unselfish, or perhaps unrewarded behavior, this Spartan stands out beyond all their peers.

Senior women's lacrosse player Sydney Mentzer has had several bouts with illness, injuries and surgeries throughout her four-year career, but has continued to show up and produce for her team. She missed significant time her sophomore season due to a severe ankle injury, which still has lingering effects, but still managed to earn first-team all-conference and all-region honors that year. Early on in her senior season, she sustained a major elbow injury, but has still played in all 19 games and leads the team in points, goals, draw controls and caused turnovers.

Mentzer has not just overcome the odds, she's excelled beyond expectation. For her career, she is a three-time all-region honoree, a three-time first-team all-conference member and has helped deliver four Commonwealth titles for the Spartans with a pair of appearances in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

2026 Georgia Heathcote Stallman Award Recipient: Isabella Klemm

The Georgia Heathcote Stallman Award is awarded annually to York's outstanding senior female athlete who thoroughly demonstrated athletic excellence and displayed credible qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, and academic achievement.

Isabella Klemm has distinguished herself as the best female swimmer in school history to date. The only two-time national qualifier in program history, Klemm cemented her legacy by becoming York's first female NCAA All-American as she finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke her senior year. She dominated at the conference level as she racked up 14 MAC medals, holds the conference record in the 100 breaststroke and was twice named the MAC Women's Swimmer of the Year. Klemm also leaves York as a five-time school record holder and a four-time pool record holder.

2026 Daniel J. Klinedinst Award Recipient: Josh Stahl

The Daniel J. Klinedinst Award is awarded annually to York's outstanding senior male athlete who thoroughly demonstrated athletic excellence and displayed credible qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, and academic achievement.

Josh Stahl compiled an injury-laden, but highly successful career capped off by a national runner-up performance in his season year. The senior posted a record of 63-5 through his last two years which included a 38-2 overall record and a 15-0 record in dual matches in his senior campaign. He capped off his career earning NCAA All-American honors with a second-place finish at 197 lbs. while ranking top-10 in Division III in technical falls with 18. He also became the first Spartan to earn the title of MAC Men's Wrestler of the Year.
