Evans, Fisher Earn USILA Scholar All-American Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A pair of York College men's lacrosse seniors, Bear Evans and Davis Fisher, were honored by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) for Scholar All-American honors as announced by the organization on July 1.

To be eligible for the Scholar All-American award, a nominee must be a senior academically and possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be a USILA All-American, a member of a USILA North/South Senior All-Star Team, or an outstanding league/conference player. Selections to the USILA Scholar All-American team are made by a committee of collegiate lacrosse coaches.

After transferring from Cabrini University, Evans spent his final two years at York where he compiled an outstanding cumulative GPA of 3.81, including a 4.0 in his final term, while earning his bachelor's degree in finance. On the field this past season, the standout defenseman was tabbed a USILA Honorable Mention All-American and a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth selection while leading all Spartan defensemen with a career-best 71 ground balls.

Fisher, a four-year Spartan, earned his bachelor's degree in general business with a superb cumulative GPA of 3.66 while landing on the Dean's List seven times. The senior put together one of the best offensive seasons in program history as he tied teammate Cory Bergmann for the single-season record with 97 points. Fisher was named a USILA Honorable Mention All-American and the Commonwealth Attackman of the Year for his on-field heroics this past season.

York's two selections led the MAC Commonwealth and ranked second only to Stevens (4) among Middle Atlantic Conference schools as the Commonwealth and Freedom combined for 11 total honorees. The Spartan men's lacrosse program now boasts 32 all-time USILA Scholar All-American selections.
