Spartan Men’s Lacrosse Heading to Lynchburg for NCAA Opening Weekend

YORK, Pa. - The No. 6 York men's lacrosse team will be heading to the University of Lynchburg to take on Colorado College in a second-round matchup of the NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday.

The schedule for the Lynchburg Pod is as follows:
Saturday, May 9
Game 1: Grove City/Ohio Wesleyan vs. #8 Lynchburg - 12 p.m.
Game 2: Colorado College vs. #6 York - 3 p.m.
Sunday, May 10
Game 3: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2 - 3 p.m.

The sixth-ranked Spartans (18-1) earned their automatic qualification into the NCAA postseason by defeating Stevenson, 15-8, to capture the program's fifth Commonwealth title. York is making their 10th NCAA postseason appearance and enters the tournament riding a 15-game win streak which is tied for the second-longest such streak in program history.

Colorado College (11-2) earned an at-large berth in the 40-team field for their 11th appearance in the national tournament and first since 2023. A Division III Independent, the Tigers nabbed the second-to-last at-large spot into the tournament as they ranked 24th in the NCAA NPI selection rankings. Colorado enters the postseason riding a six-game win streak and is 3-8 all-time in the NCAA tournament.

The Green and White is 15-9 all-time in the NCAA tournament since first qualifying with an at-large bid in 2014. The Spartans made their first-ever national semifinal appearance in 2022 and have advanced as far as the quarterfinal round four times.

Saturday's matchup will mark the second meeting between these two programs. The Tigers claimed a 7-5 victory over the Spartans back on Mar. 22, 2001.
