Klemm Closes Career at Nationals in 200 Backstroke

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - York College senior All-American Isabella Klemm closed out her decorated career on Saturday by competing in the 200 breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Klemm finished 25th out of 43 swimmers in the 200 breast preliminary heats with a season-best time of 2:21.03. She finished 14 spots ahead of her entry spot as she came into the meet ranked 39th with a time of 2:22.05.

Kelsey Van Eldik of Kenyon, Friday night's 100 breaststroke national champion, posted the top time out of the prelims with a time of 2:13.78. Megan Bonikowsky from Whitworth nabbed the 16th spot out of the prelims with a time of 9:19.59

The Spartan senior closed the book on an outstanding career while making her second appearance at the NCAA Championships. She made history on Friday finishing sixth in the 100 breaststroke to become the first female swimmer in York College history to earn All-American honors. She also finished 48th in the 100 butterfly on Thursday with a school record time of 58.06 in addition to her 25th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday. 

The two-time national qualifier also has 14 Middle Atlantic Conference medals on her resume, including seven gold, and was named the MAC Women's Swimmer of the Year in each of her final two seasons.
