YORK, PA – York College women's basketball coach
Katie Kilpatrick is pleased to announce the hiring of
Tori Gittens as the Spartans' new full-time assistant coach.
Â
Gittens comes to York College after spending last season as the Graduate Assistant at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was responsible for assisting the head coach in all daily aspects of the women's basketball program. Gittens was in charge of coordinating group player development including leading guard skill work and shooting groups.
Â
Gittens helped mentor a pair of All-Great American Conference honorees as an assistant last winter.
Â
Gittens also assisted with scouting and analyzing film for upcoming opponents, various game-day duties and other tasks as assigned. She also brings basketball strength training experience to Kilpatrick's staff.
Â
Gittens collegiate playing experience was split between Charleston Southern and Henderson State. She played four years at Charleston Southern from 2019-20 to 2022-23 before completing her final year of eligibility as a grad student at Henderson State. She was a two-time captain at Charleston Southern and earned Big South Conference All-Academic honors.
Â
At Henderson State, Gittens averaged 10.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as she played in and started all 32 games for the Reddies. Gitten shot 45.4% from the floor, 50.8% (64-for-126) from distance and a blistering 80.5% from the stripe. She also had 23 assists, 14 blocked shots and 14 steals during the campaign. Her three-point shooting percentage led all three NCAA Divisions as she earned GAC all-league honors. Henderson State went 20-12 and won the Great American Conference title.
Â
"After a long search, we were fortunate to find Tori," said Kilpatrick. "We want to be able to challenge and push our players so they can reach their full potential. Tori's experience as both a player and a graduate assistant, fits in well with what we are hoping to accomplish this year, and in the years moving forward."
Â
In addition to Gittens joining the staff, Kilpatrick has announced that MAC All-Commonwealth forward
Alyssa Hocker will serve as a volunteer assistant on staff, rounding out the 2025-26 coaches.
Â
"Alyssa has one of the strongest work ethics of any athlete I have ever coached," says Kilpatrick. "We can't wait to have her back on the bench this season."
Â
The Spartans kick off the regular season on Tuesday, November 11 at McDaniel College in a non-conference clash.
