How It Happened
After a 2-2 start, the Spartans busted the score open on a 10-0 run. York had their way in the first quarter as they racked up a 16-8 lead while holding Salisbury to just 15.8% from the field and out-rebounded the Sea Gulls, 19-8.

The Spartans ended the second quarter on a 13-7 run to take a 36-23 lead into halftime which would hold as their largest lead of the night. York hit on all cylinders in the second quarter as they shot 53.8% (7-for-13) from the field and out-scored Salisbury, 20-15, in the period. Shealyn Ricks was the offensive catalyst for the Spartans throughout the first half as she poured in 13 points, including nine in the second quarter.

The Sea Gulls aimed to turn the tide out of the halftime break and found success as they opened the third quarter on an 11-2 run to whittle a 13-point deficit down to just four with 6:37 left in the period. Salisbury eventually completely erased their once double-digit deficit and took a 44-43 lead with 3:15 left in the third on a Keturah Stewart layup. Stewart's layup would go down as the last made bucket of the quarter for SU while the Spartans scored three unanswered points to take a 46-44 lead into the fourth.

The Spartans weathered a back-and-forth battle in the fourth quarter and never trailed in the period as they finished strong to pick up their first win of the season. York out-scored the Sea Gulls 14-6 through the final five minutes with Makenna Zimmerman leading the way with six points. York posted a 46.2 field goal percentage in the final quarter while holding SU to just 29.4% from the field. The Spartans also produced a 10-8 edge in rebounds and out-scored the Sea Gulls 10-6 in the paint.
