Four Spartan Softball Players Earn MAC All-Commonwealth Honors

Barstad, McDonaugh, Wade and Rietema earn all-league honors

YORK, PA – The York College softball team had four players earn MAC All-Commonwealth honors as announced by the league on Friday morning.
 
Junior Gretchen Barstad and sophomore Alexis McDonaugh earned first-team honors while senior Emma Wade was a second-team pick. Junior Natalie Rietema was an honorable mention selection.
 
Barstad makes her second career appearance on the first-team MAC All-Commonwealth squad. Barstad hit a team-leading .391 with 28 runs scored, nine doubles, three triples and six home runs. Barstad notched 26 RBI while she had a 1.129 OPS, a .664 slugging percentage and a .465 on-base percentage. In addition to her offensive production, she earned five wins in the circle as she made 15 appearances with three complete games and 58.1 innings of work.
 
McDonaugh had a fantastic sophomore year as she earned MAC All-Commonwealth honors for the second straight year. McDonaugh hit .359 with 12 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple as she drove in 22 runs. She owned a .885 OPS, a .447 slugging percentage and a .438 on-base percentage. She drew 15 walks while she also had a pair of sacrifice flies for the season.
 
Wade concludes her stellar Spartan career as a three-time MAC All-Commonwealth pick. Wade finished the year hitting .333 with 18 runs scored, nine doubles, three home runs and a team-leading 27 RBI. She had a .900 OPS, a .505 slugging and a .395 on-base percentage. Wade concludes her career as one of most prolific offensive players in school history. She played in 138 games, hit .331 with 67 runs scored, 33 doubles, 20 home runs and 138 RBI for her Spartan career.
 
Rietema earns her second MAC All-Commonwealth honor as she has been named an Honorable Mention pick in both seasons. Rietema posted seven wins and a save as she made a team-high 24 appearances with 18 starts. She threw 118 innings with 11 complete games and three shutouts. She struck out 92 as she held opponents to a .253 batting average against.
 
The Spartans have now earned 25 MAC All-Commonwealth awards in York's five years as members of the MAC Commonwealth.
