YORK, PA – The MAC Commonwealth champion York College field hockey program placed a league-high three players on the 2024 Middle Atlantic Conference Field Hockey All-Academic team as announced by the league office on Monday morning.
Seniors
Belle Fields,
Riley Buschert, and
Libby Wild were recognized as three of the ten annual honorees.
The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
The Spartans have had three players recognized in each of the last two seasons.
Fields is now a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree after a fantastic season which saw her earn her first-team NFHCA All-American honors. Fields was also the NFHCA Region V Player of the Year as she led the Spartans to a school-record 17 wins. She allowed just 14 goals and boasted a goals against average of 0.59. She registered 91 saves as she played all 1,423:57 minutes in goal for the Green and White. Fields recorded a school-record 13 individual shutouts for the year.
Fields is a civil engineering major and owns a 3.53 GPA. She is a four-time member of the York College Dean's List and was a CSC Academic All-Region pick last season.
Buschert makes her third appearance on the Academic All-MAC squad after a banner senior year. Buschert, who joined Fields as a first-team All-American, concluded her career as one of the best two-way players in school history. She was a three-time All-Region V selection as a Spartan. Buschert started all 23 games for York as she led the team with 30 points on ten goals and two assists. She had five game-winning goals while she also had a defensive save for the year.
Buschert is a hospitality management major and owns a 3.73 GPA. She is a six time member of the York College Dean's List.
Wild makes here first MAC All-Academic appearance after a great senior year for the Green and White. Wild was a first-team MAC All-Commonwealth selection while she was also a first-team NFHCAÂ first-team All-Region V pick. Wild started all 23 games as she tallied 16 points on seven goals and two assists from her defensive position.
Wild was a huge weapon on penalty corners for York with a majority of her points coming off Spartan corner plays. Wild also got the job done on the defensive end of the field with a school-record 11 defensive saves. She spearheaded a defense that finished third in the country in goals against average and 11
th in shutouts per game. Wild finished her career with 18 defensive saves, tying her for third on the Spartan career list.
Wild is an integrated marketing major and boasts a stellar 3.97 GPA. She is a seven time member of the Dean's List.Â
