Marco Named Defensive POTY as Six Spartans Earn All-Commonwealth Honors

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Six members of the York College men's soccer program received All-MAC Commonwealth honors as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office on Thursday.

In addition to the all-conference honors, the Spartans also had a major award winner as Dylan Marco was named the MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year.

The six All-MAC Commonwealth honorees are the most in program history since the Spartans joined the league in 2021. York has accumulated 15 all-conference honors in their Commonwealth era.

First Team
Gavin Huey - Midfielder - Junior
Owen Henderlite - Defender - Senior
Dylan Marco - Defender - Junior
Second Team
Tannor Wiszneski - Forward - Freshman
Colin Findlay - Midfielder - Sophomore
Honorable Mention
Shaun Apsley - Defender - Senior

Dylan Marco anchored a defensive unit which led the Commonwealth with a 0.90 goals-against average and held opponents to just 10.8 shots per game. The Spartan defender also made a significant impact on the offensive end with nine total points (3g, 3a) which ranked first among Conference defenders and second overall on the York squad.

Marco is now a two-time All-Commonwealth selection after earning second-team honors last season. He is just the third different player in the storied history of the Spartan men's soccer program to earn a conference Player of the Year honor and the first defensive player to join that exclusive list.

Defenders Owen Henderlite and Shaun Apsley joined Marco on the all-conference team as the three combined to lead the Commonwealth's top scoring defense. This unit allowed just 18 total goals all season with six shutouts and held opponents to under 10 shots nine different times. Henderlite also ranked third on the team with six points (2g, 2a), while Apsley posted three points (1g, 1a) on the season.

Gavin Huey led the Spartan offense with 15 points on a team-best six goals and three assists. The junior ranked top-five in the conference in goals and top-10 in points, while tying for second with three game-winning tallies.

Tannor Wiszneski made an impact in his rookie campaign to earn an all-conference nod. The first-year Spartan tied for second on the team with three goals on the season, including one in the postseason-clinching victory over Stevenson.

Colin Findlay earned recognition as one of the top midfielders in the conference in just his second season. The sophomore helped bolster a strong defensive unit while also making plays in the attacking third with three assists on the season.
