MANCHESTER, PA – The York College men's golf squad concluded their fall semester schedule with a championship at the York College Fall Invitational. The Spartans finished first of eight teams in the tournament.

York finished with a two-day total of 615 with a 314 on Sunday followed by a 301 on a very windy Monday. York outdistanced second place Goucher by 12 strokes. Penn College finished third at 644 followed by Hood in fourth at 645.

Not only did the Spartans win the team title but freshman
Alex Kaun captured the individual title via a second round tiebreaker. Kaun finished the tournament with a score of 150 which left him tied with Goucher's Tyler Lynch. Kaun won the tiebreaker of back nine score on Monday 36 to 38. Kaun began the tournament with a 77 after a front-nine 39. He was then two over on the back on Sunday. Kaun was steady on the front on Monday with a one-over 37. He then put together an even-par 36 on the back to win the tournament. Kaun had three birdies and three bogeys with three pars on the back nine. The win was the first of Kaun's Spartan career.

The tandem of
Jacob Fripp and
Thomas O'Connell tied for third as they both shot 153 for the tournament. Fripp shot 78 on Sunday including a ten on the par five ninth hole. He finished with a 43 on the front but steadied the ship with a one-under 35 on the back to finish with his 78. Fripp had a similar round on Monday as he was two-under through eight holes before the ninth hole bit him again with a triple bogey eight. He was two-over-par on the back with a 38 as he shot 75 for the day.

O'Connell started his tournament Sunday with a two-over-par 38. He came home in three-over-par 39 to finish with a five-over 77. O'Connell was very steady on Monday with two bogeys on each side and 14 pars to shoot 76.

Luke Sabina was the fourth scorer for the Spartans as he tied for 11
th with a tournament total of 159. Sabina was one over through nine holes on Sunday. He then had a rough stretch on the back nine as he carded a 45 as he shot 82 for the day. Sabina was sharper on Monday as he shot over a one-over-par 37 on the front followed by a 40 on the back for a 77.

Junior
Alex Jolakian was York's fifth starter in the tournament and he tied for 26
th of 46-players with a score of 164. Jolakian shot 83 on Sunday followed by an 81 on Monday.

The Spartans had six players play individually and got a number of good performances.
Nate Myers led the individuals with a tie for 11
th place as he shot 159. Myers carded an 80 on Sunday followed by a 79 on Monday.
Adam Gorman tied for 17
th as he finished with a score of 162. Gorman fired an 82 on Sunday followed by an 80 in round two.
Alex Koch was next for the Spartans as he tied for 21
st with a score of 163.
Brody Seip and
Ryan Solimeo tied for 30
th with scores of 167.
Cooper Swam was York's final finisher as he tied for 38
th with a 172.
