Men’s Golf Set for NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The York College men's golf team will be making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship as the full field of participants was announced by the NCAA on Monday.

The championship event will take place May 12-15 at Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play or the conclusion of the last fully completed round. First and second round competition will be played simultaneously on El Campeon and Las Colinas courses with the final two rounds played on El Campeon. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.

Forty-three teams and ten individuals not on one of those teams, were selected to participate in the 2026 championships for a total of 225 participants. Thirty-four conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the championships. The final nine berths were at-large selections, which include institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion or independent institutions.

The Spartans earned automatic qualification to the championship event after winning the MAC Commonwealth crown for the third-straight year and fourth time overall. York posted a total score of 603 (+27) and came from behind on the back nine of the final round to edge out Stevenson (605) by two strokes.

Sophomore Adam Gorman led the way for York as he finished tied for second which earned him First Team All-Commonwealth honors. Senior Nate Myers also nabbed First Team All-Commonwealth honors as he finished tied for fourth, while senior Jacob Fripp garnered Second Team All-Commonwealth honors with a sixth-place finish and freshman Luke Sabina also earned a Second Team All-Commonwealth nod after finishing tied for eighth overall.

Fripp and O'Connell are no strangers to the NCAA Championship as they will both be making their third appearances in the Spartan lineup at the national tournament. Gorman, Myers and Sabina will all be making their trips to the championship event.

York has yet to make the cut at the national tournament and advance past the second round. The Spartans achieved their highest finish in 2021 when they finished tied for 21st place.
