READING, PA – The York College men's track & field squad had a record setting day on Saturday in Reading at the Alvernia Winter Invite.
The Spartans set a pair of school records in the non-scoring meet. The first record came from the 4x800 relay team of
Pierce Nolan,
Joshua Smoot,
Seth Topfer, and
Tyler Hunt as they crossed the line in a time of 8:15.33 to finish second. The previous record was set in 2014.
The second record came from junior
Aidan Rollinson as he won the weight throw with a best distance of 17.39 meters. That broke Rollinson's own record set last February. Rollinson has now won the weight throw in the last two meets.
Freshman
Brayden Ecker earned his second straight win as he was victorious in the pole vault with a best height of 4.30 meters.
Brody Weachter finished fifth in the pole vault while
Sam Dickmyer also earned a top eight finish in the event.
Shaun Apsley finished eighth in the 400 meter run while
Hamed Diallo was tenth in the 200 meter dash as they were York's other top ten finishers.
The 4x200 relay team of
Quincy Hardison,
Brody Bonham, Diallo, and
Kyle Friend teamed up to finish second in the event with a time of 1:34.32.
York finished the day with two wins, two top two relay finishes and a total of eight top ten finishes.

The Spartans will have back-to-back competitions next weekend. The Spartans will take a select group of athletes to Widener on Friday for the Widener Invitational at University of Pennsylvania. York will then head to the Coach I Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Franklin & Marshall, in Lancaster.
