Spartans Claim Three Wins at Ursinus Duals

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The York women's wrestling team went 3-1 in a successful campaign on Sunday at the Ursinus Duals.

How It Happened
York began the day by winning seven bouts in a 34-14 victory over New England. In the five bouts where each team had a wrestler competing, York won three of those bouts with two falls and a technical fall.

The Spartans suffered a 34-11 setback to Gannon in their second dual of the day. Gisele Ramirez and Rebekah Patzke each had win for York with Ramirez notching a fall at 117 lbs. and Patzke claiming a 10-0 victory at 145 lbs. Maura White and Emma Lavalle scored one team point each in their losses.

York received five-consecutive forfeits to start the dual in a 43-5 win over Misericordia. The Spartans went on to win four of the final five bouts with falls by White and Ashley Knapp, and technical falls by Patzke and Lavalle.

The Spartans closed out the day with a 24-23 nail-biting victory over Ursinus as each team won five bouts. Lavalle clinched the win for York as she pinned Evette Colon late in the first period at 207 lbs. Patzke picked a critical team point in a 3-1 loss at 145 lbs. which ultimately gave Lavalle the opportunity to win the match with a fall.
