Spartans Win Four Weights at Hiram Round Robin

HIRAM, Ohio - The Spartan women's wrestling team put together a successful day at the Hiram Terrier Round Robin tournament on Sunday by winning four weight classes.

Seven weight classes (103, 110, 131, 145, 160, 180, 207) were set up in a true round robin with just one pool in each weight class. Weights 124 and 138 had multiple pools and each wrestler was slotted into a placement bout based on how they performed in their pool.

Gisele Ramirez (110), Maura White (138),  Allison Brandt (180) and Emma Lavalle (207) all won their respective weight classes with a combined record of 12-0. Ramirez put together the most dominant performance of the day for York as she won all of her matches by fall as she went 4-0. White also went 4-0 with two falls and racked up a 10-0 technical fall over Braylin Jones (Utica) in the 138-pound title bout. Brandt and Lavalle both went 2-0 with a pair of falls each on the day.

The Spartans also had two other wrestlers put together strong performances and finish the day with a winning record. Jada Stoneberg finished second at 131 as she went 2-1 with two falls. Lexi Mazzella went 4-1 on the day with two falls, including a pin in the 138-pound fifth-place bout against Sian Rogers (Manchester).

The Spartans return to the mats on January 5 with a home tri-match against Felician and Randolph.
