Women’s Wrestling Opens Dual Season with Saturday Split

YORK, Pa. - The York women's wrestling team opened the dual season with a home tri-match against Alfred State and Frostburg State on Saturday.

How It Happened
The Spartans began the day with a 40-10 victory over Alfred State as they won eight of 10 bouts while receiving four forfeits. Outside of the forfeits, York scored bonus points in their other four wins as Barbara Hartman, Maura White, Rebekah Patzke and Emma Lavalle all registered first-period falls.

The script flipped on the Spartans in the second dual as Frostburg State rolled to a 37-11 win. The Bobcats claimed victories at eight weight classes with three forfeits and four other bonus-point wins. Daisey Hawkins and Gisele Ramirez each posted first-period falls to account for York's two wins. White scored a team point in her 10-4 loss to Amber Hunter-Snyder.

Ramirez went 3-0 on the day with a win by forfeit and two falls, including a fall in an exhibition bout with Dianna Pineda. Hawkins went 2-0 with a victory by forfeit and a win by fall.
