HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA
- The York College women's golf team concluded their stay at the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament on Friday afternoon at the El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.
The Spartans missed the team cut after Thursday's round was canceled by the NCAA Women's Golf Committee after a disasterous pin placement on hole number six.
However, freshman
Tori Blanc qualified for the individual portion of the final round on Friday.
Blanc began her round on hole number ten. She got off to a scorching start as she began the round birdie, bogey, birdie as she was one under through three. She doubled 13 followed by two pars and three bogeys as she was four-over-par on her first nine.
Blanc then had a rough beginning on her second nine as she posted a double on the par five first hole. She then had a run of five bogeys before finishing her tournament with three straight pars to end the round. Blanc shot 43 on the front for her final round 84.
Blanc had a fantastic year as she was the MAC Rookie-of-the-Year and was also a first-team All-MAC performer for the conference champion Spartans.
The Spartans must say goodbye to seniors
Natalie Robson and
Taylor Devine but return four of their starters headlined by Blanc and
Grace Strickland, another first-team All-MAC finisher.
