MOHNTON, PA – The York College women's golf squad finished third of eight teams at the Alvernia University Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
The Spartans shot a team total of 352 as they were 12 back of second place Millersville and 17 back of tournament champion and host Alvernia. West Chester finished fourth (359) while Bloomsburg rounded out the top five tournament teams.
Senior
Natalie Robson once again led the way for the Spartans as she finished second in the tournament with a five-over-par 77. Robson was even par on her opening nine and then shot a five-over-par 41 on the back. She finished one stroke back of medalist McKylie Boreman from Alvernia. Boreman was two over on each nine as she shot a 76 to win. The top five finish is Robson's fifth this year.Â
Freshmen
Grace Strickland and
Tori Blanc were the next two Spartan finishers as they both finished tied for 14
th. Strickland and Blanc each carded matching 88's. Strickland shot 44 on the front and 44 on the back for her 88. Blanc fired a four-over-par 40 on the front while she shot 48 on the back for her 88.
Freshman
Vivian D'Orazi was York's fourth scorer as she shot a 99. D'Orazi finished with a 49 on the front and a 50 on the back. Freshman
Jessica Shay was the Spartans' fifth tournament participant as she shot 101.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they make their lone home tournament appearance of the year. York will host the Spartan Spring Invitational at Regents Glen Country Club. The action kicks off Sunday at noon while round two begins on Monday at 9:00 pm.
