WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS – The York College women's golf squad picked up their first win of the 2022-23 year as they won the team championship at the Williams Women's Golf Classic hosted by Williams College at the Taconic Golf Club.
The Spartans cruised to the tournament championship in the eight team field with a two-day total of 643, 18 strokes in front of second place Bates College. Wesleyan fell to third with a tournament total of 666 while Bowdoin finished fourth at 667.
The Spartans were paced by senior
Natalie Robson as she finished second overall, just two strokes off the individual championship score of 153. Robson carded a 77 on Sunday, tied for the best score in the tournament field. The finish is Robson's 15
th career top five finish in her 28 tournaments as a Spartan.
Freshman
Grace Strickland was the second finisher for York as she placed eighth in the tournament with a two-day total of 160 as she shot 81 on Sunday. Fellow freshman
Tori Blanc finished tied for ninth with a tournament total of 163. Blanc fired an 81 on Sunday to move up one spot in the individual standings.
Freshman
Jessica Shay concluded the tournament tied for 11
th with a total score of 165. Shay shot 86 on Sunday for the Green and White.
Brooke Zajac was York's fifth tournament participant as she tied for 22
nd in the field. Zajac shot 91 on Sunday for a two-day total of 179.
York returns to action on Friday afternoon as they head to Golden Oaks Golf Club for the MAC Fall Preview Tournament. The two day tournament kicks off Friday at noon in Fleetwood, PA.
