How it Happened

•The Spartans jumped on the Pride early and that pressure paid off as Eric Ranck scored the game's opening salvo at the 9:10 mark. Sophomore face off man Vinny Facciponti then captured the ensuing face off, raced towards goal and hammered home the shot for the 2-0 York lead. Brendan O'Sullivan, Jarrod Marenger, and Dylan Wolf each found the back of the net in the final five minutes of the quarter as York led 5-0 at the end of 15 minutes of play. York outshot the Pride 14-8 in the opening quarter but Spartan goalie Jack Michael was on point with five first quarter saves.

• The Spartans pushed the lead to 7-0 on goals from Will Harnick and Brendan O'Sullivan to open the second quarter. The Pride got a Jayce Dyer goal at the 6:23 mark to get on the board. York responded with another goal from Ranck and then he assisted on a Wolf goal as York pushed out to a 9-1 lead. Widener got a man up goal from Connor Heisman but Jacob Wilhelm and Wolf tallied goals to close out the half as York went to the intermission up 11-2.

• The Spartans continued to play well in the third quarter. Widener got the first goal of the quarter but York responded with three straight goals including a pair of man up goals by Paul Poholsky and Harnick. Those tallies sandwiched another Facciponti goal off a face off win as York led 14-3 with 7:30 left in the period. The two teams traded goals to end the quarter as the Spartans held a 15-4 advantage after 45 minutes of action.

Facciponti opened the fourth quarter with another goal off a draw, his career-high third goal of the contest. Harnick put York up 17-4 with his third tally of the game. After Widener's fifth goal, Marenger and Gavin Dembeck netted goals increase the lead to 19-5. Widener got another Heisman goal before Ames Clark closed out the scoring late in the game.
