How It Happened

• After three and a half scoreless innings that saw just three hits by the teams combined, McDaniel would break the tie plating a pair of runs on three hits. Michaela Persinger led off the frame with a double followed by an infield single by Tori Wilkens to put runners on the corners with nobody out. Megan Coyle would ground out to bring in the first run and a Melinda Morgan single to left brought in the other as the Green Terror led 2-0 after four innings.

• The Spartan bats were held in check through the first six innings being held to just two hits, but would get something going in the top of the seventh getting back-to-back singles by Mia Ruffalo and Hannah Vogt to set the table for the Spartan offense. York would get an RBI-groundout from Joanna Marmo followed by a clutch RBI-double to tie the game by Julie Van O'Linda when the Spartans were down to their final out.

• In the bottom of the seventh, McDaniel started things off with Morgan being hit by a pitch and then moving to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a pop out, Kristina Shank would hit a two-out walk-off single through the right side to bring in Morgan as McDaniel took game one 5-3.

How It Happened

• After a 1-2-3 top of the first, McDaniel jumped ahead early scoring on a fielder's choice off the bat of Alicia Wagner after taking advantage of a lead-off hit by pitch and a single as McDaniel led 1-0 after the opening inning.

• The Spartans would get that run back in the next inning on a pair of hits. Mia Ruffalo led things off with a double to right center and she would later come in to score on an RBI-single by Joanna Marmo. York would add another run in the top of the third on a Ruffalo sac fly that brought in Elle Meyer who led the inning off with a bunt base hit and a stolen base as York led 2-1 after three innings.

• After a scoreless fourth inning, the Spartan offense would break out with four hits in the top of the fifth including RBI-singles from Shyla Pastore and Hannah Vogt to push their lead out to three. McDaniel would go down in order in the bottom half of the inning as Vogt had held them to just two hits through five.

• McDaniel would cut the deficit to two with a lead-off homerun by Kristian Shank in the bottom of the sixth but would strand the bases loaded and York still led 4-2 with one inning to play. McDaniel would put the tying run on base but Vogt would get the final batter to fly out and York salvaged a split with a 4-2 win in game two.

SPARTAN NOTES:

The Spartans are now 23-25-2 all-time against the Green Terror … the win in game two snapped a brief three-game losing streak for the Spartans … the Spartan offense has struggled of late averaging just 2.1 runs per game over their last seven contest as York is 2-5 during that stretch … the eight hits in game two was the most since they had 10 in their game one win back on March 24 against Cabrini … the Spartans stole three bases in game two and is the fifth time this season York has swiped three or more bags in a game this year … when the Spartans score at least four runs they are 13-1 … freshman Hannah Vogt picked up her first career win while also tossing her first career complete game … Julie Van O'Linda picked up her fourth multi-hit game on the season going 2-for-3 in game one … York is 3-3 on the road on the year.

UP NEXT:
