YORK, Pa. – The Spartan softball team hosted Hood in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans split the Blazers, winning game one, 11-4 and dropping game two, 11-3. The Green and White are now 16-7 overall this season, and 5-5 in conference play.

How It Happened
The Green and White struck first, grabbing three runs in the top of the second.
Allison Hunsberger walked in the first run, followed by a two-RBI single off the bat of
Danella Silagy.
Hood got one of their own in the bottom of the second, just before a five-spot from the Spartans.
In the top of the third,
Ashlyn Weigle started the rally with a two-RBI double.
Silagy followed with a two-RBI double of her own.
Bri McKeown got in on the fun, kicking an RBI double into center, extending the York lead to 8-1.
The Blazers inched closer in the fourth, scratching across three runs.
An RBI single from
Alexis McDonaugh in the fifth and a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Noelle Smith in the sixth added some insurance for the Pacers.
Natalie Rietema picked up her eighth win of the season, tossing another complete game. In the contest, Rietema allowed only four runs on eight hits and seven walks. She fanned four Blazers.

How it Happened
The Blazera scored early and often, tallying nine runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Smith got the Spartans on the board in the bottom of the second, doubling to left center field.
Kate Miller followed with a sacrifice fly to help York inch one closer.
Hood added two insurance runs in the bottom of the second, taking a commanding 11-2 lead.
The Green and White scratched across one more score in the third on a double steal attempt.
Courtney Freese started in the circle for the Spartans, allowing seven hits and seven runs in 3.1 innings of work. Freese struck out two.
Kyrsten Coppage came in for relief, recording one hit and four runs in 0.0 innings.
Gretchen Barstad spun a scoreless 0.2 innings for York.
