YORK, Pa. – The York College softball team played host l Gettysburg University on Thursday afternoon. The Spartans split the twin-bill with the Bullets, winning game one 11-10 before dropping game two, 17-1. The Green and White are now 15-6 overall.

How It Happened
Gettysburg opened up the scoring in game one, grabbing a run in the top of the first.
York was quick to respond, as
Noelle Smith knocked a two-RBI double to left center just before
Sara DeFrancesco added a sacrifice fly, putting the Spartans ahead, 3-1.
In the bottom of the second,
Alexis McDonaugh collected two RBIs on a single to add to the York lead.
The Green and White tacked on another run in the third, thanks to a fielder's choice off the bat of
Ashlyn Weigle.
The Bullets collected a run on their own on a fielder's choice in the top half of the fourth.
Katie Miller cleared the bases in the bottom half, bringing in three more Spartan runs on a three-RBI double to extend the lead to 9-2.
Gettysburg began to chip away at the margin in the fifth, putting up an eight spot in the top half of the fifth, and eventually take a 10-9 lead.
McKeown tied it back up for York, recording an RBI groundout in the fifth.
The Spartans walked it off in the bottom of the seventh, as McDonaugh singled down the right field line to score Weigle.
Natalie Rietema and
Kyrsten Coppage split time in the circle, game one.
Rietema spun 4.2 innings of three-hit ball, conceding seven earned runs while striking out five.
Coppage recorded 2.1 innings of work, allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks en route to the victory.

Gettysburg started the game with seven unanswered runs.
The Spartans plated their lone run into the bottom half of the second inning.
Gretchen Barstad roped a double, scoring McKeown.
The Bullets went on and scored 10 more runs through the final three innings.
Courtney Freese started in the circle for the Spartans.
Barstad and Coppage also got circle time for the Green and White.
