How it Happened:

• The Knights took the early lead, scoring within the first minute. With 11:55 to play in the opening quarter, though, York equalized when Jake Hvazda slithered his way through the right side of the SVU defense and bounced one into the net. York took the lead with just under five minutes to play on a menacing run from Joey Fiorino. The defender successfully earned a clear, and just kept rumbling toward the net without any pressure. The goal was his second of the year. The Spartans were able to double their advantage before the end of the first as Matt Whitcher buried his opportunity just 22 seconds after Fiorino's goal.

• In the second quarter, Ryan Cook found Hvazda for his second of the day. Immediately after, Billy Sasso scooped up the ground ball off the face off, sprinted down the field and unleashed his first goal of the season. It was just the fourth of the face-off specialist's career. Thomas Pfeiffer capped off a 1:14 stretch that included three Spartan goals, pushing the York lead to 6-1. SVU would answer with a goal, but York responded with five more in a row, three from Hunter Davis, and one from Cook and Hvazda. One of the Davis goals came directly off a face off again, this time with Sasso earning his first assist of his career. Gunnar Reynolds added one more with eight seconds left in the half to take York into the break with a 12-3 lead.

• It was more of the same in the third quarter for the second-ranked Spartans, the scorers of all eight goals in the period. Hvazda opened with a goal just 56 seconds into the third, then Brad Casale and Pfeiffer notched goals, with Pfeiffer finishing two in a row. J.T. Kidd won a face off after Davis' fourth goal, marched down the field and scored himself, his third of the season. It was 20-3 after three quarters of play.

• Southern Virginia scored the opening two goals of the final period but Liam Rattigan and Stephen Goedeke each notched a score for York, finishing off 22-6 triumph on the final home regular season game.
