How It Happened:
• The Spartans got off to fast start in the final game of the Mustang Classic. Junior Thomas Pfeiffer opened the scoring 2:20 into the game as he scored his 18th goal of the year off an assist from senior Ryan Cook. It would take the Spartans another four minutes to score goal number two as Hunter Davis scored off a feed from Cook. That goal seemed to kick the offense into high gear as York scored another four goals over a six-minute stretch as the Spartans ended the opening quarter with a 6-0 lead. Matt Whitcher, Davis, Brendan McGrath, and Pfeiffer scored for York. Pfeifer's second goal was a man-up tally for York.
• Pfeiffer nabbed his third goal of the game to start the second with 12:32 left in the quarter. The scoring pace settled as the next goal, a Jake Hvazda tally, didn't come until there was 2:34 left in the half. The Mustangs finally got on the board 20 seconds after Hvazda's goal as Kyle Karsian scored an unassisted goal for Stevenson. Davis notched his third goal of the game 1:32 before the intermission to give York the 9-1 lead heading to the locker room.
• The offensive onslaught continued in the third quarter as McGrath opened the scoring with his 20th goal of the year 2:18 into the second half. Davis scored his fourth goal of the game 1:20 later off a pass from McGrath as the lead grew to 11-1. Pfeiffer kept the offense rolling with his fourth goal of the game to make it 12-1. The Mustangs temporarily stopped the bleeding with a man-up goal from Jacob Tatum with 7:55 left in the third. York ended the quarter with goals from McGrath, Pfeiffer and McGrath again as they carried a 15-2 lead to the fourth.
• The Mustangs opened the scoring in the fourth but Pfeiffer and McGrath quickly answered as the lead stood at 17-3 with 11:37 left in the game. The Spartans lead 20-5 before the Mustangs got a pair of cosmetic goals in the final two minutes of the game.
