How it Happened:
• York, eager to put its loss to fifth-ranked Gettysburg in the rear-view mirror, scored the first goal of the game, coming from freshman Jake Hvazda. The River Hawks equalized less than two minutes later, but then the Spartans erupted with a 9-0 run stretching from the first to third quarters. Hunter Davis, Ryan Cook, Thomas Pfeiffer and Matt Whitcher all scored in the opening period, just 3:59 apart to take a stranglehold of the game. Dillon Hannah, Pfeiffer and Hvazda added assists in the first.
• With a commanding 5-1 lead after the first quarter, York added two more in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Brendan McGrath and Ryan Cook scored with 13:32 and 10:42 remaining in the half, respectively. On McGrath's goal, Paul Poholsky notched his first career point, assisting the Spartans' leading goal scorer. His pass was a good one, finding McGrath right in front of the net for the easy put away. Before the half ended, Brad Casale scored the first of his career high-matching two goals, with just 4:25 to play. Casale impressed throughout the afternoon, wreaking havoc on the River Hawk defense with his ability to quickly change speed and direction.
• With an 8-1 halftime lead, York added another early goal in the third period. Just 1:46 into the second half, Pfeiffer scored the second of his three goals, reaching five points for the fourth time in six games this season. He assisted on the next goal, Davis' second. With 6:12 left in the third, Susquehanna got one back, making it 10-2, but Casale scored just over three minutes later, pushing the advantage back to nine at the end of the quarter.
• Pfeiffer led off the fourth with his final goal, and Ethan Locker capped off a 13-4 win for the Spartans with a goal with 46 seconds left. The goal was the first of the freshman's career, and also marked his first career point. In net, Landry Marshall earned his 23rd win, making seven saves on 10 shots on goal. Tanner McAlpine relieved Marshall towards the latter stages of the game, making his first appearance of his career in goal.
