How it Happened:
• In the first three minutes, Eastern jumped out front of the fifth-ranked Spartans, scoring at the 12:09 mark in the first quarter. It took less than two minutes for York to respond, getting a goal from Ryan Cook, his first on the season, on a man-up opportunity. The assist went to Thomas Pfeiffer, who finished with five assists on the game, tied for third-most in school history. Cook's goal started a run of 10 consecutive goals for York, scored by eight different players. Brendan McGrath scored twice in that stretch, as did Matt Whitcher. A pair of freshmen, Dylan Wolf and Jake Hvazda, earned goals as well to help York burst out to a 10-1 lead with just over two minutes to play in the first half. The Eagles got one back before half, but the Spartans led 10-2 at the break.
• York opened the second half much like how it finished the first. Hvazda scored his second of the game and third of the season within the first two minutes of the third quarter to push the lead to 11-2. Brendan O'Sullivan, another freshman, followed that with a goal with 11 minutes to play in the period, receiving a pass from Pfeiffer. McGrath took advantage of the next man-up opportunity to score his ninth goal of the early season, the assist going to Dillon Hannah.
• Brad Casale scored his second of the game before Eastern earned one back to end the third quarter. Whitcher scored again in the fourth quarter, along with Gunnar Reynolds, Wolf, Dylan Bodo and Ethan Locker, totaling 19 goals for York, cruising to another early-season win.
