How it Happened:
• The Spartans scored just two goals in the first five minutes, but finished the opening period with 10, the most scored in a quarter this season. The impressive 15 minutes was just one goal short of tying the record of 11 goals scored on Southern Virginia on April 4, 2014. In York's previous game, against Marymount (Va.), the Spartans poured in nine in the second quarter. Thomas Pfeiffer scored a career-high five times, all coming in the opening period. In the second, he would add an assist, totaling a career-high six points. Brendan McGrath scored two in the first quarter, while Joseph Joseph, Dillon Hannah and Matt Whitcher would also tally goals. Cameron Leech, who leads the team with 31 assists on the year, accounted for three in the first quarter. Leech would finish with four assists and two goals. York had unleashed 16 shots before Wesley recorded their first shot, and the Spartans won the first 10 face offs of the game. Billy Sasso had six ground balls, and won all nine of his face offs on the day. Ryan Powers went 12-for-14 in face offs, and Tanner Yanick was 2-for-2.

• The scoring slowed in the middle two quarters, with York putting three away in each period. Leech scored in both the second and third quarters, while McGrath completed his hat trick. Tyler Davis, Jamie Lilly and Brad Casale also buried chances, giving the Spartans a commanding 16-0 lead through three quarters.

• York added five more goals in the fourth, two from Yanick, who also added an assist, and one from Ryan Cook, Cody Sweeney and Gunnar Reynolds. Freshman Gunnar Nemeth came up with impressive stops while in net for the final quarter for the third-ranked Spartans. Nemeth recorded five saves and finished off the shutout for the York goalies; Landry Marshall started and played the first quarter, and Jake White came in for the second and third quarters, making three saves in 30 minutes. The shutout was just the second in school history (4/7/2009 vs. Susquehanna).
