How It Happened

• The starting pitchers were brilliant in game one as York's Ginger Lewis and Frostburg's Allison Short were dominating. Frostburg's first runner came on an Emily Zengel lead off the top of the third with a single up the middle but Lewis got two strikeouts and a ground out as Zengel never got to second base.

• York got their first base runner in the fourth as Joanna Marmo fisted a single to center with two outs in the frame. Short retired the next Spartan hitter to leave Marmo stranded.

• The Bobcats had a great opportunity in the fifth as Kaitlyn Griffin singled off the chalk down the first base line for a lead off single. A sac bunt moved Griffin to second. Zengel flied out to left but Lewis hit Short with a pitch to put a pair of runners on. A Spartan error loaded the bases but Lewis got a ground out to end the inning, preserving the scoreless tie.

• The Bobcats got the game winning rally in the seventh started with a Griffin single to center. Oliva Ford pinch ran for Griffin and with Brittany Platt unable to get a sacrifice bunt down, the Bobcats put Ford in motion. Platt struck out and it appeared that Spartan catcher Haley Hirn had gunned down Ford for the second out of the inning but Ford was ruled safe. Lewis got a line out to left for the second out of the inning. Short then stepped up and delivered a hump back liner to center to score Ford with the game's lone run.

• York got a lead off single from Marmo to open the bottom of the seventh but York was never able to get her to second as they suffered the shutout loss.

How It Happened

• Frostburg jumped on the Spartans early in game two. Jessica Dubbs started the inning with a bunt single. The Bobcats, coming off the momentum of the seventh inning win in game one, would rip off five hits to score four runs to seize control of the game early.

• The Bobcats added two more runs as the Spartan defense let starter Melissa Jurkiewicz down as York surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the inning.

• The six runs would be more than enough for FSU starter Hannah Tavik as she twirled a two hit shutout. York got a Katie Maloney single in the first and a Haley Hirn single in the fourth but that would be the extent of the Spartan offense as York was shutout for the fourth time this year.
