How It Happened
• The first half was an offensively challenged 45 minutes of soccer. Both teams would fire off three shots in the half with Juniata putting three shots on frame while York had a pair of shots on target.
• York pushed the tempo early in the second half and that pressure led to the Spartans' goal. Junior Maxine Herman (Dover, Pa./Dover) finished a chance just 3:17 into the second half to put York on the board. The goal was Herman's first of the year.
• The Eagles drew a Spartan foul inside the box in the 66th minute. Devin Kos took the penalty kick and drove it home, tying the game at one.
• Spartan goalie Brittany Cullison (Swedesboro, N.J./Gloucester County Tech) made a pair of big saves on back-to-back possessions a minute apart in the 86th and 87th minutes to keep the game tied at one.
• York senior Elexa Sherman (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) fired off a shot on goal with 1:03 left in regulation but Juniata keeper Erin Mueller made the stop to force overtime.
• Neither team had a significant opportunity in either overtime as the Spartans settled for their first tie of the year.
