How It Happened

• The first half featured consistent back and forth play. The Spartans best chance came on a Malcom Djiki (North Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) rocket that went just over the cross bar in the 39th minute. The Blue Jays best scoring chance when Matthew MacFarquhar ripped a rocket that was saved by Spartan netminder Charlie Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) in the 41st minute.

• Both teams fired off five first half shots. Two of Hopkins shots were on net while York put one of their five shots on frame.

• Hopkins got on the board in the 52:02 mark when the Spartan defense committed an unnecessary foul about two yards outside the box. The Blue Jays Victor Osio took the free kick and hit a shot just past the Spartan wall into the lower right side of the net for the 1-0 lead.

• The Blue Jays put the game away just 1:33 later as Samy Ramadane finished off a one-time shot after the Blue Jays worked the ball down the field. Connor Jacobs collected a ball on the left wing and send a pass into the top of the box. Liam Moylan one touched it to the far right of the box and Ramadane drove the shot inside the right post for the goal.

• York's best chance to get on the board came in the 74th minute when Djiki hit a header off a free kick. His header looked ticketed for the goal but hit the post. The rebound came to Ryan Ockford (Langhore, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) who volleyed the rebound back towards the goal. JHU's Bryan See made the save to preserve the shutout.
