Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 4 Spartans suffered just their second loss of the season, both occurgin at Mustang Stadium to a nationally-ranked opponent as they came up on the short end of a 10-8 decision on Friday night against No. 15 Stevenson University.

How it happened:
- Stevenson got on board first as Parish Young snagged a loose ball out of the air following a save by Caleb Abney and then finished high and to right corner as York scrambled to reset on defense.
- The Mustangs got a quick goal after their first as York turned it over on the clear attempt for an illegal procedure which forced Abney to give the ball to SU at the top of the box, which gave the Mustangs an easy opportunity to score as Abney could not managed to get back into position in time.
- Spartans rebounded as Austin Glab finished with a rip from his sweet spot on the far left wing 1:41 later.
- Glab once again hit the twine as he intercepted a pass in the offensive as Stevenson tried to clear and then proceeded to the middle where finished with a flying jump shot.
- Cameron Leech opened the scoring in the second quarter as he used a turnaround shot from a tough angle on the left side for the go-ahead goal.
- After a five-minute scoreless stretch, Stevenson broke the lull as Kyle Karsian beat his man and finished with a rip from the far right wing.
- The Mustangs regained the lead as Matt Tompkins received a feed on the left wing and quickly released a shot to the upper right corner for the goal.
- Stevenson's Shaun Ohlhaver put his team ahead by two goals once again as he got a running start into his shot which he finished from the right wing to put his team up 5-3 heading into the halftime break.
- The Spartans came out strong to start the second half as they opened up on the man-advantage. Dan Kaplan tallied a goal on the man-up from the close right wing as he received a feed from Dillon Hannah.
- Stevenson regained their two-goal lead as Wade Korvin tallied an impressive goal from the close right wing as he used a behind-the-head shot.
- The Mustangs took the largest lead of the game as they went ahead 7-4 with 3:03 left in the third quarter as Tompkins tip-toed along the left side of the crease and finished to the lower right corner of the net.
- Hannah picked up a big goal with 27 seconds left in the third as he finished right in front of the goal after receiving a feed from Andrew Gamble from behind the net.
- Stevenson answered right back after the ensuing face-off as Tompkins sprinted up the right side and finished near side with a behind-the-back shot on the run to closeout the third quarter.
- The Mustangs needed just seven seconds to tally their next goal as they won the face-off to start the fourth quarter and scored on the fast break.
- Gamble gave York a much-needed goal on the next possession as he unleashed a one-timer from the far left wing after being set up by Hannah.
- Kaplan once again put one home on the mad-advantage as he sniped a shot from the middle of the defense after receiving a feed Leech at the point to cut the deficit to two goals.
- Stevenson quickly snuffed out the glimpse of momentum York had started to build up as Karsian sniped a shot of his own 52 seconds after the York's man-up goal.
- However, York notched a critical goal nearly two minutes later as Hunter Davis finished from close range on the fast break after getting an assist from Taylor Tolbert.
- Following the goal by Davis, York took possession with 5:09 maintained possession for the remainder of the game. In that time span, the Spartans totaled nine shots, with just one landing on goal. Credit the Mustang defense for digging their heals in and rising to the challenge to keep the Spartan offense off the board.

"We played really tough lacrosse. To out-shoot and out-ground ball Stevenson by such a wide margin shows how tough of a team we have," said head coach Brandon Childs. "They [Stevenson] just made some really great individual plays offensively. We played composed lacrosse and I thought Kluver was outstanding on their top offensive player again."

York will return home tomorrow to face Southern Virginia in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup starting at 3:00 p.m.
