YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer squad found home cooking good on Wednesday as they blanked Wesley College 4-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play on a beautiful late October afternoon. The home game was the first for the Spartans in two weeks as they returned to Graham Field off a three-game road trip.

How It Happened:

• The Spartans had some great chances early in the game. In the fifth minute, Keith Witherell slid a beautiful pass across the box to a streaking Matt Freibaum. Freibaum got his foot on the ball but popped it over the cross bar as the Wolverines dodged a bullet.

• York fired off the next five shots in the game. The fifth one found the back of the net as Ryan Ockford rose up and finished off a header off a pass from Cristobal Corvalan to give York the 1-0 lead. The goal was Ockford's fifth of the year and came in the 21st minute of the game.

• The Spartans continued to apply the offensive pressure on the Wesley defense. That pressure would pay off as freshman Jordan Evans collected a loose ball at midfield. The speedy freshman carried the ball into the box, beat a pair of Wesley defenders and booted the ball into the back netting, giving York the 2-0 lead in the 35th minute.

• The Spartans closed out the first half scoring in the 38th minute as freshman Brady Simon drove along the end line and flipped a pass to a wide open Ali Demiri. Demiri collected the pass in the top of the box and hit a rocket past Wesley goalie Tanner Yaw for the 3-0 Spartan lead. The goal was the first career marker for Demiri.

• York outshot the Wolverines 12-5 in the first half while they also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

• Junior forward Joel Teston closed out the scoring early in the second half. Teston took possession of the ball just outside the right side of the box. He dribbled across the top of the box, turned and fired a rocket past Yaw for the 4-0 lead. That is Teston's second of the year and second in his last two games.

• York was able to get quality time for a number of their reserves as head coach Evan Scheffey got valuable rest for his regulars.
