FROSTBURG, MD – The York College men's soccer team played well and carried most of the play but had to settle for a 0-0 tie in double overtime on Wednesday evening against the Frostburg University Bobcats in Capital Athletic Conference action.

How It Happened

• The Spartans and Bobcats played a very uneventful first half as the two teams went back and forth through the opening 45 minutes of play. York did have a pair of headers from Brett Strickler that Hassan Mostafa saved to keep the game scoreless.

• York outshot the Bobcats 6-2 including 2-1 in shots on goal in the first half. The Bobcats held a 2-0 margin in corner kicks.

• The Spartans began to carry more of the play in the second half as they consistently pressured the Bobcat defense in the stanza. Mostafa made a number of stellar saves to keep the Spartans off the board. York outshot their hosts 11-4 in the second half as Mostafa made six second half stops.

• The first overtime was ten minutes of play in the middle of the field as the only recordable statistic was a foul on the Spartans.

• The Green and White created some great chances in the second overtime. The Green and White fired off five shots with four coming on goal while they also had a corner kick in the session. Mostafa recorded four saves to preserve the scoreless tie.
