Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. – Despite posting its second highest single-game shot total of the season and battling back from another early deficit, the York College men's soccer team came up on the losing side once again, fall 3-2 at Frostburg State on Wednesday night.
After letting up a goal in third minute following a bobbled save, York (4-6-4, 1-3-1 CAC) did no go into a shell, but rather attacked Frostburg (8-3-3, 3-1-1) and mounted a comeback in the second half.
The first of York's two tallies came in the 57th minute with freshman Ryan Ockford (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) booting the ball home and senior captain Justin Kaiser (Bradenburg, Ky./Menchville (Va.)) playing the roll of set-up man on the play.
The Spartans' second tally came just minutes later in the 62nd minute on a header goal by Brendan Saberton (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) with Ryan Donahue (York, Pa./York Suburban) playing the ball in off the corner kick.
The second goal by York seemed to be all the Spartans would need as they supplied overwhelming offensive pressure throughout the contest, particularly in the second half where they finished with a 13-6 advantage in shots.
Unfortunately, the Bobcats would score another goal on a Spartan miscue. Frostburg keeper Hassan Mostafa punted a ball down to the opposing 25-yard line where Bobcat striker Nabayee Tesfu chipped a shot over the head of oncoming Spartan goalkeeper Charlie Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) for the equalizer.
Testfu would go on to tally his third goal of the night and the game-winner in the 82nd minute.
York finished the game out-shooting the Bobcats 21-12 and both teams drew even with six corner kicks each.
The Spartans will finish the final leg of their three-game conference road trip on Saturday as they face Southern Virginia at 3:30 p.m.
