Washington, DC - The York College men's
soccer team continued their winning ways with an 8-0 victory over
the Bison from Gallaudet University. With the victory in this
Capital Athletic Conference contest the #3 Spartans improve to 11-0
and 4-0 in the CAC while the Bison fall to 0-11 and 0-4 in the CAC.
The Spartans scored just two minutes into the game with a goal
from junior Justin Suchoski (Langhorne, Pa.
/Neshaminy) off an assist from junior Jon Ports
(Baltimore, Md/John Carroll School). Ports would tally the next two
goals for the Spartans scoring goals in the 4th minute and 11th
minute off assists from Suchoski and freshman Kemal
Nuspahic (East Petersburg, Pa./ Warwick) respectively.
Nuspahic would then go on to tally the seventh goal of his young
career on an assist from senior Kurt Lane (Cochranville,
Pa. /Octora) with just less than five minutes in the half.
After the halftime break, the Spartans scored just two minutes
into the second frame as Mike Duff (Hughesville,
Pa/Hughesville) recorded his first collegiate goal off an
assist from senior Mark Turkewitz (York,
Pa/Dallastown).
The Spartans would find the back of the net three more times to
close out the 8-0 victory, with Turkewitz finishing off the game
with his first goal in a Spartan uniform.
York controlled the game as they fired off a commanding 43 shots
on the day compared to the Bison's three. The Spartans held
an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks on the day.
Junior goalkeeper Ryan Hock (Brookeville,
Md/Sherwood) secured the victory in goal, with his 45
minutes of work, recording one save on the day. Freshman
Kyle Connolly (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) also
recorded one save in his 45 minutes. Poloko Qobose registered 20
saves while going the distance in goal for Bison.
The Spartans host Greensboro College in a non-conference contest
this Saturday, October 4, during York's Fall Fest Weekend.
Game time is set for 2:30 pm at Graham Field.
