SELINSGROVE, PA-The York College men's lacrosse team earned their second win of the year on Wednesday afternoon as the Spartans defeated Susquehanna University 13-6 in Selinsgrove, PA in a non-conference contest.
The Spartans, who are now 2-0 all-time against the Crusaders, held the hosts to just one goal in the second half as they broke open a 6-5 contest to cruise to the win.
York received three goals and three assists from junior Scott Hermes (New Freedom, PA/Mervo) while sophomore Jason Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) continued his outstanding play. Kemper had two goals and three assists while he added four ground balls and he won 16 of his 18 face off attempts. Nick Smith (Crofton, MD/Arundel) and Ryan Wynne (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) each added a goal and two assists. Zach Fine (Ellicot City, MD/Mt. Hebron) and Mike Mayo (Wilmington, DE/Sanford) each added two goals while Trey King (Columbia, MD/South Carroll) and Justin Johnson (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) each tallied one goal. King also added an assist for the green and white.
Freshman Jeff Pie (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) earned the win in goal as he relieved Evan Mazzocchi (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven) 25 minutes into the game. Pie made eight saves as he allowed just one goal.
The Spartans, now 2-5, return to action on Saturday as they host Neumann in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
