Eagles Edge Spartans in CAC Tilt

FREDERICKSBURG, VA-The York College men's lacrosse team dropped their second straight as they lost to Mary Washington College 7-5 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA.
The Spartans fell behind early as the hosts held a 1-0 lead after one quarter of play. The Spartans responded by scoring four goals in the second period as they took a 4-2 lead into the half. The Eagles tied the game in the third period before outscoring York 3-1 in the final stanza to secure the win.
The Spartans were led by sophomore Jason Kemper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) as he tallied three goals and one assist to pace the offense. Kemper also collected a team-high six ground balls while he also won 11 of his 13 face offs. Ryan Wynne (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) added a goal and one assist while Scott Hermes (New Freedom, PA/Mervo) added the other Spartan goal. Bill Bryson (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) earned the other Spartan assist.
The Eagles had all their goals scored by a different player as their ballanced attack bested the Spartans.
Sophomore Evan Mazzocchi (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven) faced 33 Mary Washington shots and made 16 saves while he allowed the seven goals.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Susquehanna University. The match is slated to begin at 3:30 pm
