Marymount Downs Spartans in CAC Match-Up

ARLINGTON, VA - The York College men's lacrosse squad dropped a 13-4 Capital Athletic Conference decision to Marymount University in Arlington, VA on Thursday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday but had it pushed back to Thursday due to wet field conditions.

The Spartans found themselves down 5-1 after the first quarter with Brendan Brace (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) scoring York's only goal in the quarter.

The Saints pushed the lead to 8-2 at the half with Scott Hermes (New Freedom, PA/Baltimore Poly HS) getting York's lone second quarter goal.

The Spartans had their best quarter of the day in the third but were still outscored by the hosts 3-2 with Brace and Hermes each earning a goal. The Saints then shutout the Spartans 2-0 in the final quarter.

Hermes led the Spartans with two goals and one assist while Brace notched two goals. Hermes and Brace are the two lone Spartans who have reached double figures in scoring as Hermes has eight goals and four assists for 12 points while Brace has 11 points with five goals and a team-high six assists.

Colin Johnson (Hellam, PA/Lower Merion HS) notched 11 saves in goal as he was peppered with 48 shots.

Marymount's Brandon Sallee had five goals while senior Pat McGee had four goals and one assist to lead the Saints.

The Spartans, now 1-5 and 1-3 in the CAC, return home for just their second home game on Saturday afternoon as the green and white host Mary Washington in a CAC bout. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
