Johnsen Leads York at Spartan Spring Invite

YORK, Pa. - The York College women's golf team finished second out of four teams at the Spartan Spring Women's Invitational played at Regents Glen Country Club on Sunday and Monday.

Marymount overcame a three-stroke deficit from day one to pass York and claim the team title with a two-round score of 634 (+58). The Spartans shot a season-best 317 (+29) on day one followed by a 328 (+40) on day two to finish 11 strokes behind the Saints in second place with a total score of 645 (+69). Catholic finished third with a total score of 652 (+76) and Stevenson finished fourth with a score of 718 (+142).

Ava Johnsen led the way for York and captured the individual title with a 36-hole score of 150 (+6) to finish seven strokes ahead of second place. The Spartan sophomore fired a season-low score of 74 (+2) on round one with an eagle on the par-five ninth hole and birdied the 10th and 16th holes. She finished the tournament with a 76 (+4) on day two highlighted by a birdie on the 18th.

Victoria Jolakian and Samiya Bodalia nabbed a pair of top-10 finishes as Jolakian finished seventh and Bodalia claimed eighth. Jolakian totaled a 163 (+19) with a 79 in round one and an 84 in round two. Bodalia compiled a 164 (+20) with an 80 and an 84.

Lily Davis and Vivian D'Orazi finished 14th and 15th to round out the Spartan lineup. Davis carded a 174 (+30) and D'Orazi fired a 175 (+31) through 36 holes.

Two individuals also competed for York. Rachel Koengetter finished tied for 17th with a 184 (+40) and Grace Bruno made her collegiate debut finishing 23rd with a 213 (+69).

The Spartans now have seven top-five finishes this year, including four tournament titles.

York returns to competition May 2-3 at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship which will be plated at Berkleigh Golf Club.
