Women's Golf Set to Make Fourth NCAA Championship Appearance

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Middle Atlantic Conference champion York College women's golf team will be making their fourth appearance at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship as the full field of participants was announced by the NCAA on Monday.

The championship will begin on Tuesday, May 19, and continue through Friday, May 22, at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California. The event will consist of both team and individual competition play over 72 holes. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. In the team competition, the lowest four scores for each school will count in the day's total score.

The Spartans punched their ticket to the national championship by capturing the Middle Atlantic Conference crown with a 36-hole score of 653 (+77) to win by a whopping margin of 49 strokes.

The entire York lineup earned all-conference honors with four landing on the All-MAC First Team. Junior Victoria Jolakian, the MAC Women's Golfer of the Year, captured the individual MAC title and was joined in the top-five by senior Grace Strickland in second, senior Vivian D'Orazi in fourth and junior Lily Davis who finished fifth. Sophomore Ava Johnsen finished sixth to earn All-MAC Second Team honors.

Both Strickland and D'Orazi have national championship experience as the two seniors cracked the Spartan lineup as freshmen at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship played at Mission Hill Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Spartans have finished as high as 11th and made the cut in their inaugural national championship appearance in 2021. Since then, York finished 17th in 2022 and 22nd in 2023.
