NEWTOWN, Pa. - York College senior midfielder Sydney Mentzer has been named the MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending February 22 as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Mentzer had a stellar all-around performance to power the No. 7 Spartans to a 15-6 season-opening win at Mary Washington. She led all players with eight draw controls and tied for the team lead with two caused turnovers while the Spartans held the Eagles to less than 20 shots. Mentzer also contributing five points on the offensive end.
