Collins, Jonsson Earn Awards as Spartans Finish Second at MAC Championship

YORK, Pa. - The York College men's swimming captured five medals, including two golds, on the final day of the 2026 Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championship to finish second out of 11 teams.

Spartan senior standout Bryan Collins was named the David B. Eavenson MAC Men's Swimmer of the Year and head coach Birkir Jonsson was tabbed the MAC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year.

Stevens won the team title for the seventh year in a row with 1623 points, followed by York (1424.5), Misericordia (969), Arcadia (835) and Widener (801.5) in the top-five. The Spartans have now finished second twice since joining the conference for the 2020-21 season.

Highlights
Jonsson became the first coach in Spartan program history (men or women) to win multiple conference Coach of the Year awards after he earned the same honor back in 2023. Jonsson led the Spartan men to 10-0 dual meet record this season and the second-place finish is the highest finish at the MAC Championship during Jonsson's five-year tenure. At this year's championship meet, the Spartans led the way with 13 gold medals in 18 events with eight individual golds and captured gold in all five relay events.

Collins led all male swimmers with three individual gold medals, in addition to four relay golds throughout the championship event as he finished first in all seven events he competed in. The senior finished first in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, while contributing to wins in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay. He also contributed to MAC overall and championship meet records in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay at this year's meet.

The senior is just the third Spartan in program history to earn a conference Swimmer of the Year honor as he joins the ranks of Steve Fulcher (2008) and Kyle Walthall (2014, 2016) who both earned the honor under the Capital Athletic Conference banner. Collins will cap his career as an 18-time MAC champion (7 individual, 11 relay) with a total of 22 MAC medals.

The 400 freestyle relay foursome of Bryce Miller, Nick Bordovsky, Brenden Stuhltrager and Collins defended their title and did so with a new MAC overall and championship meet record time of 3:04.10.

Miller captured the silver in the 200 backstroke for the second-straight year on Sunday.

Cooper Stiles earned his second individual medal of the meet by taking silver in the 200 breaststroke.

Stuhltrager earned his third individual medal at the championship this year after taking the bronze in the 100 freestyle.
