Mott Claims Title, Bono Sets Record at AARTFC Outdoor Championships

YORK, Pa. – The York men's track and field team came in third place out of 15 teams at the conclusion of the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by York College on Saturday.

Andrew Mott accounted for 18 of York's 36 team points as he won the discus throw with a toss of 53.46m and finished second in the shot put with a toss of 16.97m.

Brayden Ecker scored eight team points with a second-place finish in the pole vault. He and first-place finisher Peter Martel each cleared 3.85m, but Martel cleared on his first attempt and Ecker did so on his third attempt.

Jake Bono racked up eight team points with a second-place performance in the javelin with a new school record throw of 61.28m. His record-breaking throw surpassed the previous record mark of 60.6m set by Robert Doster in 2014.

Ethan Jones also scored points for the Spartans in the javelin as he finished seventh with a personal-best throw of 57.82m.

Shaun Apsley finished one spot off the podium as he came in ninth place with a time of 53.78.

Brody Weachter also competed in the pole vault and finished tied for 11th with a height of 4.25m.

Tyler Hunt represented York in the steeplechase and finished 13th with a time of 9:47.09.

Nick Bordovsky also competed in the shot put and discus throw. He finished 17th in the shot with a throw of 13.89m and 20th in the discus with a toss of 40.52m.
