READING, PA – The York College men's track and field squad had a strong showing at the Alvernia Plex shootout on Saturday in Reading, PA.
The Spartans also had a pair of throwers participate in the George Mason Patriot Games Meet in Fairfax, Virginia.
Andrew Mott continued his outstanding grad season as he won the shot put with a best toss of 16.56 meters. Mott won the event by 1.84 meters as he beat five Division I throwers and 14 Division III competitors. The distance is also the best in the MAC this year by over four feet. Mott now has 27 career wins as a Spartan.
Junior
Aidan Rollinson also had a big day in Virginia as he finished second in the weight throw with a best throw of 17.42 meters. That toss broke his own school record that he set in January at Alvernia. Rollinson's throw is also the best in the MAC this year.
The Spartans got one win at Alvernia as
Brayden Ecker earned his third victory in four meets as a Spartan this year. Ecker won the pole vault with a best height of 4.62 meters, the second-best height in the MAC this season. Teammate
Brody Weachter was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.37 meters.
Edwin Niemandt posted a strong finish in the high jump as he placed third with a best height of 1.88 meters. Niemandt already owns the best height in the conference this year.
The Spartans had a pair of third place relay finishes as the 4x200 relay team and the 4x400 relay team both finished third. The 4x200 relay team finished with a time of 1:34.09 while the 4x400 relay team crossed the line in a time of 3:37.11.
Tyler Hunt and
Shaun Apsley both notched fourth place finishes for York. Hunt finished the one mile run in a time of 4:31.59 while Apsley posted a time of 52.10 in the 400 meters.
